 ALISHER KHAMIDKHODZHAEV

​Alisher was born on July 20, 1969, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. His journey into the world of cinema began early, ignited by a fascination with storytelling and visual art.

 

In 1992, he graduated from the esteemed All-Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK), where he studied under the guidance of notable V. D. Nakhabtsev and A. L. Knyazhinsky. This foundational education equipped him with the skills and insights necessary for a successful career in film.

 

From 1993 to 1999, Alisher worked at the St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio, where he immersed himself in documentary filmmaking. His involvement from 1994 to 1998 in the creation of the "Film Chronicle of Russia" showcased his commitment to capturing profound narratives and the essence of Russian history through film.

 

Since 2004, Khamidkhodzhaev expanded his expertise into the realm of feature films, taking on the role of director of photography. His unique visual style and ability to convey emotion through imagery have made significant contributions to the films he has worked on.

 

Over the years, Alisher has gained recognition and accolades at many of the world’s prestigious film festivals. He has been honored multiple times as the best cinematographer by the Guild of Russian Film Critics, highlighting his remarkable talent and influence in the industry.

 

His international acclaim includes the prestigious Golden Camera Award at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, a testament to his exceptional skill and artistry. In 2008, he was awarded the prize for best cinematography at the Venice Film Festival for his work on Alexei German Jr.'s film "The Paper Soldier".

 

Alisher Khamidkhodzhaev's career reflects a dedication to the art of filmmaking, marked by a continuous pursuit of excellence and a passion for storytelling through the lens. His work continues to inspire aspiring filmmakers and cinephiles around the world.
