WINDOWS FROM HERE

Through their windows, residents report criticism, poetry and reflections on the Covid-19 pandemic in the Vidigal favela.

LUCIANO VIDIGAL 

Was born and raised in the community of Vidigal in Rio de Janeiro. He has been an actor and a drama teacher at the well-known Brazilian theater group Nós do Morro since 1989. He majored in Performing Arts at Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras, a renowned theater school in Rio de Janeiro. Actor, screenwriter, theater and film director, Vidigal has written and directed episodes of 5X Favela (Cannes Film Festival Selection, 2010), two seasons of the TV series Mais Vezes Favela and the following documentaries: Vidigal Cup, 5X Pacification and City of God Ten Years Later . Besides, he worked as a casting director for Nao se Pode Viver Sem Amor by Jorge Duran and O Grande Circo Mistico by Carlos Diegues. As a director, he has received awards for the film Neguinho and Kika at film festivals in Sao Paulo, Londrina, Rio de Janeiro, Florianopolis and in France. He has also won an award for the best actor in the film Seven Minutes at the São Paulo a Film Festival. Vidigal has appeared in over 25 films and worked in the casting research group for the film City of God by Fernando Meirelles. Nowadays, he is a member of the research team for the program Esquenta on TV Globo, the largest commercial TV network in South America.
