      MOHAMMADREZA FARZAD

       

      Born September 1978, Graduated BA in theatre study from Soureh Art university. Started art career as poet and literary translator, translated and published some well-known plays by Woody Allen, Ariel Dorfman, David Ives, Nilo Cruz and introduced to Iranian audiences for the first time some of the most prestigious writers of the world literature like Fernando Sorrentino, Aleksander Hemon, Eduardo Galeano, Leonard Michaels, Tobias Wolff, Charles Baxter, Hanif Kureish through his 6 published books. Participated and presented papers in half dozens of International conferences on Theatre in Morocco, Georgia, Bosnia, Sudan, Germany, Azerbaijan, Jordan.

       

      He launched his film career with acting in some short and feature films and then moved into Documentary cinema as researcher and film editor. As a documentary filmmaker he has made some films Awarded and screened in national and international film Festivals. His first film “Into Thin Air” premiered at Berlinale 2011, shown in almost 30 film festivals till now. His second film "Blames and Flames" Premiered at Berlinale 2012 shown in almost 20 International film festivals till now. His third titled: "The Forget-Me-Not Egg" nominated for the best Iranian documentary of 2012, premiered at Thessaloniki International Documentary film festival and half dozens of International film events. He is the co-writer of "Revolutionary Memories of Bahman who loved Leila " (Directed by Farahnaz Sharifi) selected for IDFA 2012, Paradocs, experimental documentary program. His new film “Wedding: A Film” supported by IDFA-Bertha Fund & DMZ docs grant premiered internationally in “Next Masters Competition” of Leipzig documentary festival and went to IDFA, DMZ, Jihlava, Zagrebdox, Popoli and other cinema events. Farzad is living in Tehran.
