    SWITZERLAND — HUNGARY 10 MIN

    RUSSIAN PREMIERE

    • ABOUT

A blanket transforms into a castle, a swamp becomes quicksand : the world is a playground for 5 and 6 year olds, Morné and Carey. «Sun Cream» is a dual travel: a trip to the forest for these children and a time travel for the viewers, who are transported back to their own childhood.

    • DIRECTOR

      AYLIN GÖKMEN

Swiss-Turkish director who holds a BA in Philosophy and Literature from the University of Lausanne. In 2016, she was awarded a scholarship to study documentary filmmaking in the Erasmus Mundus DocNomads program, which takes place in 3 different countries: Portugal, Hungary and Belgium. She is currently pursuing her last semester in Lisbon. «Sun Cream» was produced during her Hungarian semester.

    • DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

While it focuses on two children, the film is primarily about us : why did we lose our ability to build castles with blankets? Why did we forget to look at trees, swamps, animals and to be amazed by them? Why did we become afraid of wading in mud and getting ourselves dirty? By following Morné and Carey in their plays, my goal was to capture the colors, the sounds and the textures surrounding them in order to make them nearly tangible to the viewers, so they would remember their own childhood and the wonder and imagination that characterized it.
