OUR SONG TO WAR
BELGIUM — COLOMBIA 14 MIN, 2018
APRIL 4, 17:00
MOSCOW, CINEMA OCTOBER
Crocodile-men, a mystic river, some kids that like fishing and a war that ends share the same Colombian land; Bojaya. In this place, villagers have strange beliefs and celebrate the “Novenario” death ritual. This might be the beginning of a very long story, where spirits and humans meet each other to learn what is there to life after the end of war.
Onzaga is a Colombo-Belgian film director and director of photography. Her short film The Jungle Knows You Better Than You Do won the International Jury prize for best short film generation 14plus at Berlin International Film Festival 2017, the highly acclaimed VAF Wildcard and other prizes, while being selected worldwide in festivals as San Sebastian, Sao Paulo, Reykjavik, Vilnius and Cartagena. Playing with hybrid forms, she creates her own magic realism storytelling with tales reflecting different ways of perceiving reality. Surrounded by ghosts and spirits her stories wander freely in dreams, jungles and cities. She worked as a director and DOP for several short films, documentaries and video clips. Now she is currently developing her first feature film.
