PRINCE OF DREAMS

Erik was born as a girl but always felt like a boy. As an 18-year-old, he began the process of gender reassignment. This is where ‘Dream Prince’ starts too. Shot over a full 10 years and with no filter. Isolation, bullying and anxiety have followed Erik throughout his life, while he has struggled with recognition from his surroundings and himself. Now he is 27 years old and decides to go on a pilgrimage to the end of the world, the Camino de Finisterrae, to finally find peace with himself. With his beloved girlfriend Martyna as a guardian angel, the journey forces Erik to confront the demons of the past. Jessica Nettelbladt’s trustful portrait tackles a difficult topic with seriousness but also with warmth, humour and love. A film about identity, mental health and healing, which goes beyond Erik’s own story.

JESSICA NETTELBLADT

A director and documentary filmmaker based in Scandinavia, specialized on in-depth interview technique. She have made several noticed documentaries and written the books How to live and survive as a documentary filmmaker (2011) , and Voices within the walls (2018) wich take place inside female prisons in Sweden. Nettelbladt holds a Master degree in filming from the Valand Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden, she is also a graduate of Stockholm Academy of Dramatic  Arts, the Nordic Documentary Film Academy at Biskops Arnö and the Swedish School of Television. She also studied psychologi at the University and have a long knowledge of working with marginalized  and social exposed groups in the society.Her previous documentary features, I Am My Own Dolly Parton, was praised by critics, and MonaLisa Story was nominated best documentary 2017 at Guldbaggen and achieved several prizes in Sweden and abroad.
