It sounds like science fiction: A world that is totally predictable, without chance, without surprise. But the vision is about to become reality - thanks to the enormous amount of data we generate each day, and thanks to new, powerful computer programs that use this information to predict the future. In this documentary we put the number crunchers to the test: Can they predict the future of our film crew?

AKOB KNESER

 

Grew up in Munich and Bonn. After graduating in philosophy, history and religious sciences, Jakob Kneser has been working as editor at a music tv channel based in Cologne, before making a name for himself as a director and author. Since 2002 he has made numerous reports, features and documentaries for arts and science television programmes such as ARD, ZDF, 3Sat and ARTE. Since his film „End of a legend“ in 2006 he has been working closely with a&o buero filmproduction, becoming partner of the company in 2010. Jakob Kneser lives with his family in Bonn.

 

 

PINA DIETSCHE

 

Filmmaker Pina Dietsche studied media design at the International School of Design in Cologne and directing for documentary and fictional film at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. After her studies she started working as a writer and director for science magazines Quarks & Co. and Kopfball at WDR as well as ZDF’s satirical television show Neo Magazin Royale. Recently she started focussing on long-format documentaries for broadcasters such as ARD, ZDF, 3sat and ARTE. Her debut documentary “Mapping the Future” about big data was called “an impressive achievement” by the German newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau.
