LORENZO HAGERMAN
Lorenzo Hagerman has had a distinguished and dynamic career in cinematography and documentary filmmaking. He began his professional journey as a photojournalist in 1991 during the turbulent Yugoslav Wars, capturing pivotal moments and honing his visual storytelling skills in a challenging environment.
By 1995, Hagerman transitioned into the role of Director of Photography. His debut as DP was in "Second Century," feature film directed by Jorge Bolado and featuring Robert Frank and Martin LaSalle (renowned for "The Picpocket"). This project marked the beginning of his deep engagement with the essence of film-making.
In 2010 Hagerman's work on Rebecca Cammisa’s film "Which Way Home" brought him significant recognition. The documentary, which follows the harrowing journeys of unaccompanied child migrants traveling through Mexico to the U.S., was nominated for an Oscar for Best Feature Documentary, underscoring Hagerman's ability to capture powerful and poignant human stories.
His cinematography prowess continued to shine in Amat Escalante’s film "HELI," which won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 and the Silver Frog at Camerimage, further fortifying his reputation as a top-tier cinematographer. He also worked on Rick Alverson’s "The Mountain," which was featured in the main competition at the 2018 Venice Film Festival, showcasing his versatility and continued relevance in the film industry.
