NETHERLANDS 23 MIN
Syrian refugee boy Ahmad (12) just arrived in The Netherlands. While he is busy integrating in Dutch society and trying to make Dutch friends, it turns out he's also on a personal, heart-warming mission.
Amsterdam based documentary director Susan Koenen (1974) wants to inspire audiences by portraying courageous people. Koenen is a very successful director of youth documentaries. She directed the multiple award winning film 'I Am a Girl' that screened in over 100 filmfestivals worldwide in 30 countries and won over 12 awards. She also won awards with her films 'The Red Apple', 'Laura & Anne 4 Ever' and 'Black & White' and her documentary The Wild West was one of the public's favorites at IDFA 2010. In Ahmad's Hair, she shows a loving Syrian family trying to integrate in The Netherlands. Ahmad has to overcome his shyness while finding new, Dutch, friends.
