Film-critic and curator/programmer based mainly in Sunderland (UK) and Vienna.

 

He reviews films for The Hollywood Reporter and contributes regularly to Sight & Sound (London), Tribune (London), KINO! (Ljubljana) and the websites IndieWire, MUBI and Jigsaw Lounge, among other international outlets. Between 2011-15 he was Director of the Bradford International Film Festival at the UK’s National Media Museum.

 

Works as an advisor/consultant for several other European festivals including the Viennale in Austria. A member of the international film-critics’ organisation Fipresci, he has served on more than 20 juries since 2002, including Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique in 2013.
